Feels like summer to me....

Still not letting me post pictures...

Dad was better today. He is on an antibiotic, a Z pac. he walked to breakfast and ate at the table. His temp. is down. They are thinking it was the beginning of bronchitis. But not sure.

My ankle is still enormous, but it was smaller this morning....I had dropped 5 pounds this morning...Gotta be the fluid in the ankle.

I have one more lesson to enter into the computer for the project. Then I have to edit and clean it up, then upload it onto the website. Maybe I can finish all that by the holiday. I hope so. It is hard on my eyes and leg and ankle.
I have many "irons in the fire" right now. At least this is giving me some income since school isn't on right now.

That's all folks.

Where is this week going?

The service isn't letting me put anything on line. I have not heard from Dad tonight. I will call in the morning and check on him. He had a temp when I went by this morning and the doc. was supposed to give him antibiotic prescription. i am figuring "no news is good news."

Happy Birthday, Jonathan

Happy birthday! Jonathan. 32 today.
Wish you were here.

The best laid plans.....

As you can see, these boys were doing what boys seem to be able to do most....playing.

When I got to school this morning, the teacher had forgotten or something to notify me that another teacher would be subbing in her class. She had asked me to do it more than a month ago....whatever, I was able to go home, then drive Jonathan to the airport, and go on to work at the project I have been doing.

BTW, I am hoping that I finish the project by Friday, but realistically, it will probably be more like Tuesday. I have gotten better at it and faster, but it is still tedious. HA!

I haven't heard from Dad today, so I am guessing that things are okay. I will go over one day this week. I have to stop at the DSS office to turn in the papers I finished this weekend.

Not much else going on or that I want to blog about, so here I go...

Sunday morning coming down....again.

Candace came up to visit Dad today. I think this was her first time seeing him since Christmas. He had a hard time waking up, but he talked to us and knew who she was. He had another difficult day yesterday.

My kids and their wives grilled out here last night. I helped...well, I sort of helped. We had a good time. We played card games until about 10:30. Michelle called her friend who was keeping the kids and made arrangements for them to stay overnight with them. She is going to return the favor this week... Rather her than me. The kids are going to VBS this week, so that won't be so bad.

I am subbing in summer school on Monday and working at the other project for the remainder of the week, or until it is done. I am shooting for Friday of this week, or Tuesday of next week at the latest...
Jonathan's birthday is day after tomorrow. He will be in Boston for meetings almost all week, so we aren't celebrating until next weekend. The following Saturday, is Isabella's birthday party. The weekend after that is Laney's shower for her marriage in October.....Busy!

Have a good week...

Taking a break

Then the sun was hot and the water cool. Ian is taking a break.
I have worked some this week. Today I got a haircut, went to Dad's Plan care meeting, went to lunch with some of "the Girls" and came home to help Edy with her chewing everything up problem.

Dad has gained 15 pounds since changing residences. We worked out a plan to help him even out his weight. Overall, he is doing okay for a 91 year old. Not great, but okay.

That is about all I know.

cooling down

Even 91 year olds like a hot dog from Joes.
This photo was taken several months ago.
When I asked Dad where he got all the bruises on his hands and arms, he said, "I guess I got them when I was beating out the fire last night." He was sleepy, so I talked to him a few minutes on Sunday, but he went back to sleep. I didn't bother him or try to get him to talk anymore.
I will be going over to visit him on Thursday and attending his Care meeting.
I worked today in the office. They were patient as I was trying to learn how to upload the test. I will go in later tomorrow and then work some on Friday. Hopefully, by then I will have it down good and just transfer the info.
I guess I am mellowing in my old age, I have been watching tv at night lately. I mean, regular plain old tv...you know, Wheel of Fortune, Jeopardy, Deal or no Deal, America's Got Talent. Boring! But still fun enough.
I have some books to read, but haven't gotten to them. I will try to do that come the weekend.
That's it. All I know. Still looking for a place closer to downtown.

Don't know much about history....or anything else much.

I thought this was a cute picture.

Today has been on again, off again.

I finally got an idea about how to work out the lesson that had been giving me issues on how to change it to objective questions instead of subjective. It took quite awhile to work it out and get it redone, but I am through with it for a bit.

I did some things around the house, bought some groceries, just stuff around and about. I had thought Will and I had an agreement about dinner, but he never called. I couldn't get him on the phone either, I didn't call but once, 'cause Jonathan told me not to stalk him. I figured he had probably gone to the movies or something.Anyway, I got some dinner and came home and worked on the project some more.

Other than that, Jonathan and Brooke have gone to Charleston since the rest of her family is there for Father's Day.

The nursing home called today. Dad had been trying to get out and go home. Then I talked to him and told him I would come over tomorrow. He said it would be too late, he would already be on his way home. This was a bit sudden for him, considering how he had seemed to mellow this week. I talked to the nurse and she said he had kicked, hit, scratched, and even tried to bite them when they stopped him.
He finally told me he would just go to bed again. I told the nurse to try to get him to take the meds as soon as he woke up---if he went to sleep. (He had been spitting them out) She didn't call back, so I assume they got him to be calmer. I will go to see him tomorrow.

The dogs and I are just hanging out tonight. Lucky us.

Warning: this blog may put you to sleep.

Spent all morning sorting through business and such things. Just making phone calls, getting paperwork organized, and scanning/copying/printing so much related to some of the things I keep "juggling." I finished with those things about lunch time, so I went out and did 'some on the site' investigation.During this time, since I was in the 'hood, I also went by the son and dil's home that is being renovated. It is looking really good. The contractor thinks it is 'on time for completion,' I am hoping he is on target.
The grandkids came by last night after their program at church. They had a good time with their aunt and uncle, and grandma.
Last night we had some very noisy and busy storms that have broken the extreme heat wave. We needed the rain, but not the power being knocked off. We didn't lose power, but we lost tv and cable services until after we went to bed. When I was out earlier this afternoon, I noticed several trees in odd places. As in across houses, yards, and streets.
That's all, folks. I don't got no more to say today

A quiet afternoon....maybe

Today I went over and checked out my yahoo account. I don't remember checking it for the last two weeks. Stunning. There were 370 messages in that box. I can only do so much at a time, and continue to just be a little ball of energy here in my own world. They like me here, they understand me. Usually.
Edy the dog is getting better every day. She is still not 100%, but I am definitely encouraged about her making a complete recovery.
The kids and I were mostly able to stick to our list for the day. I didn't have to scold, give time out, or any other consequences today. We did have a slight change in plans in that they hadn't had breakfast. I averted a problem by getting them some mini-biscuits (from Chick-Fill-it-up) They drank water and were happy with it. Their Dad met me at the library and then we rode to Sonic for slushes as promised. All in all a good day with the kids. One funny thing I noticed, the two younger ones decided to help their big brother sing today....So they sang "Amazing Grapes."
Other than that, it is a quiet day at the compound...."Yeah, too quiet." Dinner last night was about a 7.75 on the 1-10 scale. I thought the salmon was a bit salty and I vaguely think I salted it twice. The squash casserole was very good. The biscuits were perfect. The marinaded cucumber was good. And the sugar free jello white chocolate pie was extra good. If you are familiar with WW points, it was about a 7 pt. dinner. (If you didn't eat the biscuit) Not too bad.
I don't particularly follow the WW diet, but it helps me to figure out things roughly. I am not on any diet. I just don't want to have to go buy bigger sizes.
Today I feel like a nap...c'ya

Summertime and the living is....Hotter 'n Heck

If you go outside, plan to be 'flat out' when you return to the inside...
It is hot, folks, but the weather persons (Wanna be politically correct) At least I didn't cuss them... has promised a bit of relief tomorrow. We need rain, soon, I am gonna' take off my top layer and do a rain dance out on the back lawn. If that doesn't work, you will read about me in the papers.

Edy is much better today. Still not well, but much better. I have to stick a pill down her throat soon...That oughta be interesting...for me--I don't know about her. She is perkier and wants to play a bit.

Ian and I went to visit Dad this morning and take care of some other things. Dad was sitting in the solarium with some of the other residents. "The Price is Right" was playing loudly on tv. He wasn't watching it, but I figure he can hear some of the sounds of it and be comfortable about it.

(I don't think I had put on this blog site that he and one of the weekend nurses have been singing--according to her--and they stood up in the hall and sang a very old 'revival' type song. Now if you know Dad, you know he can't be singing it on tune...but it sounded good to me. Just as good as the nurse's version, so I guess that was good)

Anyway, he was happy to see us. He thought Ian was Luke, but then he got it straight and didn't call him Luke but one other time. We went into the next room and Ian pulled out a chair for Dad to sit in, and then Ian stood on the little hearth there and sang "Carolina in the Morning" for Dad. By the end of it, Dad was ready to join in and sing, so he could hear it okay.
Ian sang the "Sandlapper" song next and by then, two or three of the workers had stopped to listen. He introduced Ian as one of his grandsons, then he corrected it and said it was his great grandson, and Dad pointed at me and said, "and that's his grandma." It really pleased the workers that he was so "into it."
I guess the sweetest part was when we were about to leave and Ian put his arm around Dad's shoulder and told him, "I love you, Pa Bill." And Dad answered that he loved him. Ian sang "Amazing Grace" all the way to Clemson, Now that was hard to keep dry eyes over...

I have finished the main part of the project. Some editing, finishing the 2 that are real nightmares, and uploading it onto the website should finish the job. I will be glad and hope that I get another summer job to do.

Later!

Monday, Monday

And you think your friends are a bit whacky?
Last night I had a really good blog to post, but the computer just refused to do it.
Like me, tired.
I did some things over the phone this morning. That worked instead of going on site to take care of them. Saved lots of gas.

I talked to Isaac on the phone this morning also, That's a real treat. He usually doesn't answer the family phone, nor does he often talk to anyone. He must be catching up on his rest.
The summer project job is coming along okay. I should be nearly finished, if not finished by mid to late week. It will depend on the difficult ones and how to address their problems...I think they will be okay. once I get a handle on it.
Dad didn't want to talk on my Saturday visit...well, I take that back, they had changed his meds and he was sleepy and had trouble staying awake. I will probably go over midweek to visit him.
Edy seems to be doing a bit better. She has been very sick. She went to the vet this morning and got some meds.
That's about all I know today. I got to get to work.

Working gets in the way of life

What a face!!
Sorry that it has been so long since I posted, but the summer job project takes some of my computer time. I will finish it soon, so that will be good. Hopefully by next Saturday it will be about done if not done. It is not hard, tedious is a better word for it.
Stay cool. Try then.

Dianne and I rocked almost all day on the Sunday after the wedding. By late afternoon, I had a scratchy throat. That was the beginning of the cold that keeps hanging on and on and on. It is beginning to lessen each day.

The next shot is one of my famous duct tape shots. I love to know the ways duct tape is used. Got a good shot of duct tape use? Send a copy via email to me. I will post it. Someone sent me several awhile back, and I haven't used this one before.

I got 3 sections done on the project done yesterday. One was longer and more difficult than the others. There is a total of 16 lessons, and I am aiming for 4 sections today. One section is missing from the hard copies, so I will have to work that out.

I have to account for time I will pick up the kids and entertain them for a couple of hours this afternoon. I plan to take them to Sonic or Backyard Burgers for lunch. (Agreed, those are still fast food, but their Dad only gave me a certain amount to use for lunch, and they don't go to these two places much and they like to go.) Then I will take them to a library near here or something similar. I thought about the park nearby, but it is going to be so hot by then, it is probably best to do something inside. By then their Mom should be finished with her school day.

We (Rob and I) went to the nearby park for a very simple picnic last night. I know what kind of stress closing a school year can be, so that seemed to be a good solution for de-stressing. I took sandwiches and watermelon, He took chips, soda pop, and dessert. Very easy and relaxing.
Nothing else going on to speak of today. Ciao.

Just what is normal???

"Whaddya mean I look like I got a hangover....you should be so lucky to look like this..."

I have been rather busy this morning. Lots to do in the housework corner. I didn't go to the recycle center this weekend, so I will do that today also. Got a load of laundry about ready for the dryer.

I read three of the lessons I am making questions for, so now I have to work on the questions. Fortunately, the first one is done and only needs a bit of revision. The class I worked with at one of the school's has kids with special needs so I think about them when I am working on this part of the lessons.

I know how I will approach the second and third one, so I will work on those today.

Dad was wearing a pair of the larger waist size pants yesterday, so I was glad that he had them. One of his meds has been changed, so he wasn't as annoyed and intolerant when I had to explain why he "couldn't go home to live," Who is dead or alive, etc. He was in a better frame of mind all together. Oh, he still wanted to know all those hard questions, but he didn't argue and keep asking the same ones over and over incessantly. One of the nurses and I agreed that when he started wanting to "go to work" she would ask him to push the broom down the halls. I figure he won't do it long at a time, and that way he will feel like he is doing something. I explained to her that he started out sweeping in the mill and this might be something he could manage some. Since he can't watch tv or do other things that the other residents do, but he is ambulatory on his own and so many of them are not, it is sort of reasonable that he gets bored and restless.

The honeymooners are going to get their marriage license completely signed tonight. Seems the minister failed to sign it....

The house that is being renovated is being painted a soft yellow. Brooke and I agreed that we both really liked the color. We didn't ask Jonathan...I guess we figured that he was okay with it since he didn't complain.

Time to dry the clothes.....

The ocean is just past that house. Did I already put this shot on here? Monty, Linda and Ian.

I got the info for starting the job, but I don't get the CD until tomorrow. When I wake up enough, I am going to look over the materials I have and try to be ready to get started tomorrow.

The hardest part will probably be putting (Uploading) things onto the site. It is okay, I will figure it out.

What a ham! The second shot is at the ballgame.

Cub Scouts and their ribbons

Fourth shot is Sis and the groom. I am not sure if I have already put this on here, but I liked the shot.
I stayed about 30 minutes yesterday, waiting on Dad to wake up from his nap. He was just sound asleep and I have learned better than to wake him up from a deep sleep. He is disoriented and confused and not so easy to work with, so I don't do it.
My headcold is worse today, I am hoping it is the last day of this much aggravation.
I had planned to go to church today, but I had to take more cold meds and go back to bed. Actually, I had to take something for the headache. tomorrow I have the meeting for getting my assignment for the summer job. I am hoping it works out and at least I feel like getting the info.
Oh, our brunch was great yesterday. There were 9 or 10 of us. We laughed like teenagers and shared old stories of working together. One of the group was the honoree since she is retiring this year. None of us wanted to leave when it was really time to go. Same time next year. Can't wait.
